Training Plan 3/28-4/3

Athletes,

Please follow the link below for this week's plan.

For Wednesday's meet, we'd like to see you each choose two races in which you'll "race" and a third race to "tempo". We have a bye week over spring break and it'll be good for you all to get in a solid effort before the break!

Triton Reflections & This Week's Training Plan

Athletes,

What a day on Saturday at the Triton Invitational! I was there from 7:00am-6:00pm and I now have a newfound respect for what it takes to put on a large invitational track meet. I am requesting that each and every one of you seek out Coach Johnson and thank him for all of his hard work!

As in life, Saturday was picture perfect for some, and more challenging for others. Essentially, that's how life is. The trick is to not allow the amazing days or the difficult days overwhelm you. Try to keep an even keel. Each meet is a learning experience and you get a chance to put those lessons into practice on Thursday at Laguna Hills.

In the 3200, Chandler and Sara nailed it! PRs all around. Both ladies came to the line calm, cool, and collected. Sara didn't panic or lose focus when she was caught in "no-man's land" mid-race, and blazed a last 400 to explode through the 12 minute barrier (11:53)! Chandler went out and lead the first lap against 5:00 milers and League Champions and then tucked in and ran fearlessly for seven more laps to a huge PR (11:17)! LESSONS: Run free and without fear!

In the 1600s, Renee(5:56) ran with a fearlessness that we haven't seen before. Katina (6:28) battled through debilitating shin splints. Mia (5:47 PR) and Nicole(5:50) overcame pre-race anxiety to finish with strong final laps. Amber (5:36) didn't let the dreaded "Hot Tub dead-legs" ruin her day. LESSONS: Come to the line confident and excited to race for yourself, your team, and your coaches. Also, no hot tubbing the night before a race!:)

The 800s, provided a picture of what life is like in a nutshell. Katelyn(2:53) went for it on the first lap. Amy S went out and executed her race plan to the tune of a 2:38 PR. She then came back and helped the 4 x 800 team to a silver medal! It was one of those nearly perfect days. Hailey(2:44) continues to get her confidence and race tactics back. Marina was up against some heavy hitters in her heat. Overcoming heavy legs, sore hip flexors, pushing and shoving on the first lap, and a stumble on the second lap, she still gutted out a 2:23. She'll live to battle another day. LESSONS: Things don't always work out as planned, but you just have to roll with it and move on.

Follow the links below for Triton results, pictures, and this week's training plan. Also, please let me know if you are interested in and available to run the Trabuco Hills Invitational (Friday 4/1 for most of the team or Saturday 4/2 for those with qualifying times).
