El Toro All-Comers Meet Reflection and 2/22-28 Training Plan

Athletes,

Coach Eisele and I are very proud of the effort you all put into the El Toro meet!

These meets offer an opportunity to assess your current fitness, learn/practice race strategies, and just have fun competing. As we go forward, it will be important to learn from both training and racing.

In your races, I challenge you to come to the line with the right attitude. Some nerves are okay, but really, you need to attack your racing with a positive, joyful, and competitive attitude. Yes, there will be pain, but that will be short lived. Focus on all of the training you have completed in preparation. Remember your teammates, coaches and parents who have supported you. Push yourself to see what you can achieve, and finally, the faster you run, the sooner you get chocolate milk!

El Toro Results

In your training, it is paramount for each of you to run within yourself. Please don't take this to mean that training will be easy, but we have a range of fitness-levels within our group and it is tempting to push harder than you should at times. Each workout has a specific purpose and if you run faster or slower than the prescribed paces, you won't be getting the true benefit of the workout. Please try to be honest with yourself:)

Keep running,
Coach Horton
